— PRESENTATION: DAITO RYU AIKIJUJUTSU TAKUMAKAI —
Although the Daitō Ryū was openly taught for the first time at the end of the 19th century by Takeda Sōkaku, its origin dates back roughly 900 years. One of the most famous students of Takeda was Morihei Ueshiba – founder of the Aikidō – who became the teacher of Takuma Hisa, after whom the Takumakai was named about 40 years ago.
This leads to the registration of the group at the Nihon Kobudō Kyōkai and increased its popularity. The teachings of the Takumakai include 2884 techniques without weapons, including Tachi and Suwariwaza (techniques performed from standing and sitting positions), with a Taisabaki (displacement) based on the Kenjutsu (sword techniques).
