During the Sengoku Jidai period of Warring States, the Shimazu pressed up through the island of Kyushu to clash with the Otomo at the battle of Mimigawa. Meanwhile, on Shikoku, Chosokabe Motochika invaded Iyo in time to reach out to Oda Nobunaga.
